Getting Personal at The Maryborough Club.

The threat of baring some flesh in the warm summer time air is looming. It’s time to get up & at ’em. That extra 5% that you give this time of year. Yes, it’s upon us and if you can’t beat them, then join them!

I’m a self-confessed fitness addict – it’s my little slice of sanity amidst an ocean of chaos. As my family grew, my spare time shrank. Gone were the days I could swan into the gym at ease, chat my way round all the machines, have a long leisurely shower & ummmm, maybe even fit in time to shave my legs! (Mental image ERASE, I hear you shout).

Nowadays I simply don’t have 2 hours to spend in the gym. Nor do I have the inclination to do so. 

My gym visits are akin to a smash & grab session, a sporting version of a trolley dash per say. Nowadays not only do I have the memory of a goldfish but to accompany it, the attention span of a sparrow. So how do I get by? The Club in The Maryborough Hotel makes it very simple.

To wane off any boredom I like to mix it up. This is very easy to do in The Club in The Maryborough Hotel. With quarterly re-assessment of my progress & new programmes to keep me from getting bored with the same aul’ thing.

In the words of Albert Einstein himself:

“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

This keeps me focused, stops my body from getting too used to doing the same repetitious exercises & thus allows me to gain the most from my workouts. Do the same thing for too long & your body just gets efficient at those exercises & the benefit is lost to a degree.

Personal programmes written to suit my needs by friendly, approachable & qualified instructors make for an easy life. The fact that I can nab them at any time to talk me through my programmes (remember: memory/attention span challenged person here) allows me to a) not injury myself or anyone around me & b) feel confident that I am on track at all times. 

Reuniting with the family post-workout upstairs in the bar for lunch is a great incentive to get a workout in too! Freshly showered children straight out of the pool and a rather frazzled hubster. What’s not to love?

Warm beef salad is a winner in my books! It’s no wonder I keep coming  back!
