There have been several moments over the last week where I have suspected that there is a cat after taking up residence in my mouth – you know that dried out, furry feeling your tongue gets when you are dehydrated and you have to peel it from the roof of your mouth?! Yup, that’s me.
We have all read time and again how important it is to drink lots of water but I for one am brutal at it! I hate water from a plastic bottle. It’s akin to drinking tea from a take-away cup (NEVER acceptable in my book – however it’s counterpart the coffee bean needs to be served take-away style …..fussy? Me? I don’t believe it!)
I recently purchased a glass water bottle from TK Maxx which I adored. It was covered in a plastic rubber outer layer and had a loop to hang off the buggies etc. It did the trick really well – well, until 1st born broke it last week. So I’m on the hunt again.
But in the mean time I’ve been making fruit infused waters in order to entice me to drink more. So here are a few I made for inspiration:
- Strawberry & Basil Infused water
Take 4 – 5 chopped strawberries, 3 torn basil leaves and a handful of ice and top with fresh, cold water – leave to infuse for up to 4 hours if desired.
- Raspberry, Cucumber & Mint Water
A handful of torn mint leaves, 5/6 raspberries & 1/3 of a sliced cucumber topped with ice and water.
- Strawberry & Blueberry Infused Water
A handful of sliced strawberries and a handful of blueberries with ice and water – leave infuse for several hours.
Remember to drink more in warmer weather and to offer kids water ALL THE TIME – they forget to ask. The benefits of drinking water are endless but here is a few reminders:

- Improves Skin Complexion
- Boosts Immune System
- Natural Headache Remedy
- Prevents Cramps & Sprains.
