Leggings for Legs Eleven – All the Ones

Sports leggings are having a moment!

There is something about getting skin out in January that doesn’t sit well with me. Indoors or out.

Outdoors for obvious reasons. Hypothermia being one. And indoors because I just cannot shake off that pasty, milk bottle white look that I have as a result of months without sunlight. I don’t use tan for a few reasons (lack of time, hate the smell, incapable of using without resembling a) a variety of zebra & b) my garden shed) but I am lucky that I have a sallow look about me……at the best of times.

January is not one of those times.

Therefore I LIVE in long gym leggings from November to April. Long Live The Lyrca! However as a result there are many really expensive running leggings popping up everywhere. The type that you would actually be afraid to sweat in! I am guilty to have a few pairs that I actually would never wear for a work out…….for this reason.

But we all want to look good and I think everyone can agree that we do not want to fall foul of the dreaded “See through Arse” syndrome that can occur with less expensive leggings – especially when you squat. Nor do we particularly enjoy knowing what colour knickers that girls in front of you is sporting on her spinning bike. Hands up who has tried on leggings & squatted in the mirror in order to ensure this very phenomenon will not happen to you. If your hand is down, well you need start doing this prior to legging purchase!

Or cos you want to make sure your leggings are not see through!! Oh Hell yea! (Image via Pinterest)

The Style magazine had a spread this sunday with some fabulous high end leggings – but let’s face it…..who wants to spend that much money on gear when there are some really lovely high street options out there for a quarter the price?

Here is my pick of a few I saw this week – all €50 or under.

  1. H&M Sports Tights – €19.99
  2. Nike Legend 2.0 Leggings – €50 JD Sports
  3. Adidas Rita Ora Super Legging – €32 JD Sports
  4. Dunnes Black Base Layer – €25
  5. Nike Vixen Leggings – €30 JD Sports
  6. Penney’s/Primark – €13
  7. H&M Sports Tights – €19.99

The Nike Legend are really a fantastic buy. I have 2 pairs from my university days still – they wash fantastically well, are super comfortable & will last years.

I did treat myself in the sales this month from a brand I found on Instagram (I am Insta’ Obsessed!! – follow me here or using the buttons up top!) called Charlie Cohen. The are expensive but I got them on the sample sale and you can shop it here.

I will wear these as much as a pair of jeans & following a Christmas where I was not inside one pub or bar (life got in the way – this would not be normal for us!) for the whole of December so I wanted a treat.

My boot may prevent me from going to the gym currently……but at least I look like I’m trying! Not sure if that is a good thing or not though!

Yours, still climbing the walls & stinking of chlorine from the pool,

Cli xx

Hello there! This post couldn’t be written much better! Going through this article reminds me of my previous roommate! He always kept preaching about this. I most certainly will forward this post to him. Fairly certain he’ll have a good read. Thank you for sharing!
